Blog - Talking with Jesus |
![]() Jesus came to Bethany where His friend Lazarus lived with his two sisters, Mary and Martha. Martha served dinner and Lazarus reclined at the table. Then Mary took fragrant oil, which cost a lot of money, and put it on Jesus' feet. She wiped them with her hair. The heavenly aroma filled the room. One of the disciples, Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed Jesus), said, "Why wasn't the fragrant oil sold for 300 denarii and given to the poor?" He really didn't care about the poor. He was in charge of the money bag and often stole what was put in it. Aware of this, Jesus said, "Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of My burial. For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me." Aware that His day of suffering was near, Jesus treasured this time with His friends and recognized Mary's act as worship. Think About It Mary experienced Jesus' amazing love. She loved His nearness in her house. She loved worshiping Him. Although we cannot see Jesus face to face, we know He is with us. What will you do this week to honor His presence as Mary did? Discuss this with your family and agree on three things you can do to honor Jesus. Pray About It Thank you, Lord Jesus, for wonderful stories of worship in Your word. Help us to know how to worship and serve you on a daily basis. Amen.
