Blog - Talking with Jesus |
![]() Times are tough. People have lost jobs, homes, businesses and possessions. Rising costs. Lower incomes or no income. Anxiety floods our souls. O God, what are we supposed to do? His answer is in Matthew 6:25-34. He says, "Don't worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky; they don't sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you worth more than they?" (Matthew 6: 25-27) This year our gardenia bush produced hundreds of beautiful fragrant flowers (pictured above). They reminded me of what Jesus said in Matthew 6:28-30. "And why do you worry about clothes? Learn how the wildflowers of the field grow: they don't labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these! If that's how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and thrown into the furnace tomorrow, won't He do much more for you--you of little faith?" Think About It Jesus knows our situation and He is always with us. We can trust Him to keep His promises. When I'm tempted to feel down about the world economy, I need only look around me at creation and I'm reminded of God's love for me. He loves you too. Whatever you are going through, know that He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7) Pray About It Lord Jesus, thank you for your words of encouragement. Thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you for your love and compassion over us. We will trust you. Amen.
