It is true. Jesus calls us friends. This is what He says in John 15:12-15. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
Jesus laid down his life for us when He bore our sins on the cross. I cannot imagine what that looked like or felt like. But God does not tolerate sin. That is why Jesus went to the cross--to take away our sin so we could be His friends forever.
Think About It
Once I experienced God's amazing love, I wanted Him to be my best Friend forever (BFF) but did not know what that meant. Friends want get to know each other's likes and dislikes. They laugh and cry together. They spend time together and help each other. That's how we get to know Jesus as our BFF. We spend time learning about Him by reading the Bible, His word, and talking with Him in prayer. It's as easy as talking with a friend.
Pray About It
Lord Jesus, thank you for all you have done to be my Friend. Help me learn more about You when I read the Bible. Help me to talk with you like I do my close friends. Help me to be honest and learn how to be more like you. Amen.
