Blog - Talking with Jesus |
![]() Some things amaze me when I am on the rode to the mountains--like the trees that grow out of granite. How can a tree grow from a rock? Where does it get its water and nourishment? My questions remind me of the two foundations for life Jesus talks about. He said, "Everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn't collapse, because its foundations was on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and doesn't act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. And its collapse was great!" (Matthew 7:24-27) Think About It I've put my life in place of the word "house" and considered what makes a strong foundation. It is the love, grace and mercy of God. Once I experienced these, I was never the same. After a life of choosing my ways, I began to read the Bible and learned how much God loves me. He sent His son into this world to ransom my soul so I could have abundant and eternal life with Him. That's how I can say that Jesus is my Rock. He loved me and died for me the way I was, but the longer I am here on earth, the more I want to be like Him. I look to Him for spiritual food, real strength in this dark world. He is all I need. Pray About It Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for my sin and making me whole. Thank you for new life, abundant and eternal life. Help me to be more like you. Amen.
