Blog - Talking with Jesus |
Jesus heard that his friend Lazarus, Mary and Martha's brother, was sick. Yet, He waited a couple days before He went to see him in Bethany. By the time Jesus arrived, Lazarus was in the tomb four days.
Martha said to Jesus, "If you had been here, my brother would not have died." "Your brother will live again," Jesus said. "I know he will live again at the resurrection," Martha said. "I am the resurrection and the life," said Jesus. "He who believes in me will live, even though he dies." Mary, Martha and the Jews who were with them learned what Jesus meant. He asked, "Where have you laid him?" They led him to the tomb. Moved by their sadness, Jesus wept. Think About It This story in John 11 tells me I am not alone in my grieving for my loved one who died. Jesus is always with me to comfort me as He did Mary, Martha and their friends. Although Jesus may not bring my best friend back as He did Lazarus, I have the hope of seeing all whom I have grieved for again in Heaven one glorious day. Pray About It Thank you, Lord Jesus for your amazing love and you faithfulness. I hide in the shelter of your presence. You are my fortress and my strong tower. I love you and I am yours. Amen.
