Blog - Talking with Jesus |
![]() God gave the Ten Commandments to His people through Moses to teach them how to love Him and each other. When a young lawyer came to Jesus he asked Him, "Teacher, which is the greatest command in the Law?" Matthew 22:36. Jesus answered, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" Matthew 22:37-39. Jesus taught His followers in the Sermon on the Mount, "Do you think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished" Matthew 5:17-18. Think About It We cannot possibly keep the law on our own. If we fail in one small point, we fail. Jesus knew we would need a Helper and He promised the Holy Spirit, the Counselor and Comforter, would come to help us. The key to receiving the Holy Spirit is to love God. Jesus said, "If you love me you will obey what I command" John 14:15. Pray About It Holy Father, I love You with all my heart and want to live for You. Thank you for Jesus and for Your Holy Spirit. Teach me to live for you. Amen.
