"Unless the Lord builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain; unless the Lord watches over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain. In vain you get up early and stay up late, working hard to have enough food- yes, he gives sleep to the one he loves."

"Unless the Lord..."

We like to do things ourselves. We like to figure out our future plans and lead our own lives. I'm a planner, and I love to know the next steps in life. Psalm 127’s passage shows that throughout history we have been a people of doing things in vain, doing things to support ourselves without God.

The Lord wants to help us because He leads us with love and he is infinitely wise and righteous. He carries no sin, no selfishness, no weakness. When we trust him to plan out our future plans, we will never fail with his leadership even if it momentarily seems like it in our sights.

The further we surrender into his protection and allow our faith to move us forward, instead of our own understanding, the deeper we can see and feel the Lord's strength and love for us.

The moments leaping in faith are scary, but this verse shows us that the Lord is the one that can truly give successful and productive results in our lives.

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, plans for a future and a hope," (Jeremiah 29:11 ESV)

One hard thing about following Jesus has been walking by another person's understanding instead of my own. But He knows where I'm going. He knows what plans would be best for me because he is the Lord. He can see my life before I witness it fold out, so why do we stop him from providing for us and leading us?

Whatever you're going through isn't too big of a “house” to for the Lord to build.

We are scared to trust others because we don't want to wind up losing our provision, our protection, our comfort. But who is more able to provide for us and protect us than the Lord?

The Lord will give you the comfort you are striving to earn every day. He will give you the sleep you are missing, the protection you are praying for in fear every day, and the provisions that you are stressed out about meeting this season.

The Lord doesn't give us everything that we want because he leads wisely and lovingly. He knows our future. But he will give us everything that we need if we put our lives in his hands and walk by faith.

The person that you are putting your trust in created the heavens and the earth. He created the sky above your head today, the wildflowers on the earth, and your loved ones around you. This is the same God that created you, loves you, and wants to take care of you forever.

"Let those who fear the Lord say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” (Psalm 118:4 ESV)

Today, let's lean on the Lord with our problems and fears. He can handle them, and wants to be close to you. He wants you to depend on him because he can help you. You are more valuable to him than you realize.

Let God's leadership overflow your heart today, tomorrow, this week. Let this season be a surrender to giving your life to God- really giving your life to him. If we show up for the Lord and surrender the plans to Him we will see his fruition.
