"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." -Philippians 4:6
It's not hard to let worry consume us in the world. While anxiousness is something that a lot of us struggle with, the verse above shows us what to do when we worry.
God wrote this verse to the people who would worry- He never intended to show favoritism to the people that didn't worry at all, but he shows care for the worriers here.
God wants to help you with your anxiety by offering his peace that surpasses all understanding as you pray to Him. He is able to take the anxiety and restlessness away from you.
If this is hard for you to understand or apply, think about how the one and only God of this entire universe- from your home town to the entire galaxies surrounding ours, the creator of it all- tells us not to worry, and gives us an answer to this feeling. He is worthy of our trust.
Imagine God writing this in heaven back when Philippians was written. He knew what you would be going through even then. He wrote this for you- and his word never returns void (Isaiah 55:11).
When you are worrying, He wants you to talk to Him instead. He wants to give you His peace. Just as a child feels safer with their parent's protection and presence, we will feel the fear wash away by praying to God during times of worry.
God echoes the fruit of the spirit, not the works of sinful flesh. Fear has no place in the presence of God. So, next time you feel fear creeping up, no matter the type of fear, here's your reminder that you have the perfect person to come to when it starts.
