Read This if You Don’t Know How to Enter into the New Year

As you look back on 2023, how was your year?

So many people are offering scheduled plans to meet their goals in 2024 already- whether it be a new workout plan, food plan, or financial plan- but when I look back on 2023 the main question I find wanting to ask you is how was your year spiritually?

How was your walk with God? What were some good highlights with him, and what were some things you’d want to change?

No matter what your answer is, or who you are reading this, the same truth rests in front of you.

Jesus will love you always no matter how this year was. I know that this sounds cliche, and you might hear this daily, but no matter what your life is like right now, he will reach out a hand to you.

When you’re feeling anxious and you realize that’s the only reason you called out to Jesus this week, He is there.

When you rejected Jesus on your good day yesterday but feel like dirt today and need him, he will come to you.

I asked Jesus, “Why do you love me? I don’t deserve you, I am not worth the relationship with you,” and I felt his presence and his hand reaching out to me.

He showed me a vision of the cross. It's amazing to think about Jesus' love and grace towards us no matter what we do as believers. No matter how your year has been spiritually, you can rest in this truth today and forever.

The amount of times I’ve ignored Jesus, just to later that day have a moment where I need him, to see him come to me every time, is amazing.

I will never be able to thank him enough. He deserves an infinite amount of praise and I forget to praise him all day sometimes.

I’m here to remind you today that we’re not enough on our own (Romans 3:23). I will never act like I’m good enough on my own- like I’m a perfect, straight A’s Christian. We all mess up and sin against God. We all ignore what he calls us to focus on.

We all fall short of the glory of God, but friend, we are justified by his grace as a gift through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

Rest in this truth: you will fall short of the glory of God but Jesus will never fall short of loving you, reaching out to you, and purifying you (Isaiah 40:29).

As you’re walking into this upcoming year, I pray in Jesus name that your eyes will be fixed on the one who will never stop loving you, who is the only firm foundation you can obtain, your savior Jesus Christ. I pray that you look forward to 2024 with his joy and peace yet thankful for the last year he gave you. I pray that you know that he is stronger than anything that's ever met you and anything that you will face in the future. You won't be alone- Jesus is with you now, and he will be with you in the New Year. In Jesus name, Amen.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.”

‭‭(Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23-25‬ ‭ESV‬‬)
